I don't get it. I have a $70 per month plan going, and I just want to cancel it and get something cheaper because I don't need 6 gb a month. Why is it impossible to cancel it online? I can't stop the auto payments or anything. It was just a monthly thing, not a 2 year plan or anything, and I own the phone outright. Why is this so difficult? I'd switch to another provider if it wasn't for my iphone being locked to Telus. It's all such bs. There is no cancel button, and several times I would get errors and broken links on the site. Too funny.

$35 for Telus to unlock your phone, to be able to go to another carrier.

Beware of the current rate plans on the major 3 providers. That month to month of 6-GB is so much better than 500-MB's.
You may end up paying more per month, depending on what you get based on your current usage patterns.
I've noticed the new version Telus site has a few bugs in in still. Probably capacity issues. Along with pages that no longer exist when linking from the old style pages, which is still a work in progress to delete forever.

--Can I cancel my service at any time?
Yes. To cancel your service, contact TELUS with the date you want the cancellation to be effective. Cancellation fees may apply.
----Can I take my number to another provider?
Yes, you have the right to take or "port" your number to another Canadian telecommunications company.

Your contract & rate plan are not tied together, once your contract ends you are simply able to change to whatever plan you want without restriction (for example a minimum monthly spend, access to promotional offers etc.).
If you decide to buy a new phone through Telus on contract (i.e. don't buy it outright) you may be forced to change your plan. As someone else mentioned, a 6GB plan @ $70 is definitely something you want to hold onto, you won't get a better deal at the Big 3.

When I've had problems with the TELUS website I'ved called mobility using via *611, a free call, and they resolved the problem.
Also used chat to ask questions and resolve issues.
Before making significant changes to my account I'ved called them for advice.
