Recently I switched my mobility plan from Fido postpaid to Telus prepaid, but something strange happened:
- I'm not able to make or receive phone calls, while I'm able to send or receive text messages, from my cell phone, Honor X50i (released in 2023).
- I was able to make or receive phone calls as well as send or receive text messages from the same cell phone before switching to Telus prepaid service, using Fido postpaid service.
- I inserted the Telus prepaid SIM card into a different cell phone, Huawei (released in 2016), and calling and text messaging functions work fine.
- All settings remain the default, regardless of the SIM cards or cell phones used.
I doubt my Honor X50i does not support some frequency bands of 5G or 4G networks Telus provides, but why does this phone have no problem using the Fido postpaid SIM card?
Or the Telus prepaid service doesn't support all bands and I need to switch to the postpaid service instead?
Can anyone tell me why?

Hi there, did you add a plan to your prepaid account?

Yes, I did. After searching, I find the problem is the Honor X50i does not support all of the 4G bands offered by Telus, nor does it support the 5G bands at all. Solution is to buy a compatible phone to use the Telus service.
