Telus Facebook page or Media release page is where you'll likely learn first. As customers in this Neighbourhood, we have no more access to Telus' plans than you do.

The Canadian release date is December for Lumia 950 and 950XL but I have no idea if Telus we be stocking them... it will be very disappointing if they don't!

The bad news: http://mobilesyrup.com/2015/10/07/rogers-on-the-lumia-950xl-we-dont-have-any-plans-to-carry-it-at-th...

The good news: Microsoft will be selling the phones unlocked in Canada. Which I find preferable for updates and flexibility.

I'm grabbing one for sure!

Anybody get a 950xl ? How is LTE ?

i

Well after much stock issue I am now running a 950 XL on Telus network and happy to reports all is fine.   LTE, reception overall, data and MMS all work as expected.   The 950 line has dual SIM Slots , removable battery and SD Card slot.   Looks like the anttena supports all carriers in Canada you would require in most areas.

Thankfully,  Microsoft has offered them on the Canadian webstore. For quite some time, an international order would have been the only oiption.

Ultimately, it makes ever more sense to buy the phone you want separately from the cell service you want to use. I look forward to a time when we can easily choose a phone which will connect to the carrier of your choice, and then you buy connectivity from the provider best meeting your needs.  Financing could be managed by the purchaser, the vendor, or the manufacturer, much like with other purchases.

The first batch of 950xx went very quickly off the Canadian site.   Then I think there was a manufacturing issue and they never replenished for the longest time.  It a nice phone that hits all the feature bullet points needed for a flashship - feels a little plasticy.  But thats the trade-off for the removable battery and the sd card.

You got your phone from Microsoft.ca with the WCDMA antenna or the HDSPA one?

The one from Microsoft site :

GSM network: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz
GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 296.0kbps
GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8kbps
WCDMA network: Band 1 (2100MHz), Band 2 (1900MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850MHz), Band 8 (900MHz)
WCDMA max data speed DL: 42.2Mbps (Cat 24)
WCDMA max data speed UL: 5.76Mbps (Cat 6)
LTE FDD network: Band 1 (2100MHz), Band 17 (700MHz), Band 2 (1900MHz), Band 20 (800MHz), Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850MHz), Band 7 (2600MHz), Band 8 (900MHz), Band 28 (700MHz), Band 12 (700MHz)
TD-LTE network: Band 38 (2570-2620MHz), Band 40 (2300-2400MHz), Band 41 partially (2555-2575 MHz)
LTE max data speed DL: 300 Mbps (Cat 6)
LTE max data speed UL: 50 Mbps (Cat 6)

And I saw someone in Amazon.ca:

HSDPA 850/900/1700(AWS)/1900/2100, LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300)

Wich one did you use to get on LTE?

Thanks

HSDPA = WCDMA essentially. It's all 3G. LTE Band 4 is what Telus operates on.  Just be cautious of Amazon and some of the recent scams from their marketplace.

Microsoft also has the Lumia 950 for $100 off currently ($650) with free shipping and returns.

Its the one from the MS store.  My model number is RM-1116_15357.   Have fun.  Works like a charm on Telus.  Afterthought Note:  I have not tried Dual SIM capability.

Darn.  I gave up waiting for Telus to get the Lumia 9xx, and got an Android.  Sounds like the Lumia works well.  Does anyone know about the business status for Nokia, and whether they plan to continue Lumia development?  No sense buying into a dead end.

Nokia was bought by MS and is gone.  MS Mobile exists now.   Phones are only sold through MS site in Canada unlocked.  Windows 10 on mobile is a little rough in some areas but the hardware is quite nice.
