What's the main awesomeness of Jelly Bean 4.2.2?

The awesome features of 4.2 is lockscreen widgets which lets you put widgets like DashClock onto your lockscreen. Other features of 4.2 are quick settings which let you access features like wifi, brightness and battery levels from the status bar. Another feature, if you get the Nexus 4, is PhotoSphere which lets you take 360 panoramas like Google Street View.

The quick settings panel is FANTASTIC. Another feature is the Daydreams screensaver. Not many people use it, but I love having my Nexus 7 in its dock as my bedside clock while its charging and can also double as one of those electronic photo albums.

The Lockscreen widgets are great but the one issue is that you have to unlock your phone to use them (except the camera, which you can use right off the bat). So, the lockscreen widgets are only good if you don't have a password or a swipe pass.

Photosphere is wicked. I wish I could show you some of the wideangle shots I've taken around Vancouver, but it is amazing. Only issue with it is the fact that it requires unmoving objects. I think this feature is much better than panoramic pictures.

Overall, the 4.2.2 is much faster, smoother, better battery life, and has the best OS set up I've seen on any phone. Of course, I may be bias because I have a Nexus 4, but you be the judge.

Nope lockscreen widgets still work even if you have the device password locked. It's jsut if you want to put new ones in you need to put in the password so someone doesnt add like email when you dont want it there.

Before 4.2, if you use PIN-lock, you have no quick camera access.  Since I activated encryption on my phone, I cannot get quick access to camera without unlocking the screen.  With 4.2, I can swipe to the right and get camera access.

But this is only with stock Android; I believe HTC and Samsung have quick camera access under PIN lock.

Put Text Message as lock screen widget. Have a password or swipe passcode. Now try to click on a message to type a new message. It will ask you to input your password.

Now I know, this is a safety precaution, but it really defeats the shortcut purpose of the widget. Only your camera can be accessed without having to unlock with passcode.

Oh yeah that would require a password because that is taking you into the app. Lockscreen widgets are there to give you quick information.

Would you like any random person come across with your phone be able send text to anyone on your phone even when it is locked?  That's would be a huge security concern that would make front page news.  The widgets on the locked screen is there for quick glance of information only.

Yep, I definitely understand that. I'm not arguing it against it. Just saying it's a pointless thing with a passcode (which most people would have). Just reiterating some criticisms I've read about and agree with.
