Telus says we cannot buy Windows Phones apps if we are on prepaid

I had a problem buying a Windows Phone app.  For some reason, I could not set up a credit card in the store, it only would show the option to add it to my TELUS account.  OK, so is decided to use that option.

Then I got a message saying that I could not use this option as my account was not set up for payments.

So, I contacted TELUS support. After a long conversation, I got the following response:

"No one subscribing to Prepaid service can purchase apps from the Windows Phone Store. I am not aware if restrictions apply to iPhone or BlackBerry"

This, of course is totally unacceptable.  TELUS sells my phone only as prepaid, I had to pay full pop for it. I could switch over to a monthly plan, but, I would do so without having received a discount on my phone, as others do (and I like the phone that I have).

When I asked that this issue be escalated, I was told it would accomplish nothing.

Sorry TELUS, it is unacceptable to sell a phone and then not allow owners to use it, as it is intended.

In fact, I played around, later, and have discovered that I could set up my PayPal account and was able to buy an app.

What really bothered me was the hardline statement that I was given.

Hi, you should be able to set us your credit card through the windows app store. The reason why you can't add the apps to your TELUS bill is simple. There is no link between your TELUS balance and the windows app store. I hope it makes sense.
