Pre paid account using a phone without a sim?

is this possible, the phone in question is a old samsung slider sph-M540 which has no sim card on it. if possible am i able to somehow register this phone with a pre paid account? thanks!

Phones without SIM cards (CDMA Phones) will no longer work on the Telus network, as that technology has been replaced by the HSPA technology. CDMA was due to cease in 2015 by Telus, and by Bell in northern locations by 2017.

You can dig around the internet for more info on this change.

You can likely find a newer used phone at a good price to replace the aging Samsung, if you don't want to buy a replacement outright.
