Phone or Tablet

I need a small tablet, let say 6 o 7 inches with a good screen like

HUAWEI M2 Lite PLE-703L 7.0" 4G LTE. But it is not clear what devices Telus treats as a phone and what as a tablet. What are criteria? I do not need phone calls , just mobile data on a tablet. Why should I pay for what I do not need? Just a data on the device, which is a tablet with the ability to call, but I do not need calls.

If you buy a tablet (data) plan, it will be restricted from phone services such as calls and texts, so your choice should be OK.

The HUAWEI M2 Lite PLE-703L is marketed as a smartphone/phablet so it likely may not be supported on a tablet only plan. If it's considered as a phone then everything will be billed as pay per use, not as part of a tablet plan. You may want to look at something that is an actual tablet.

@Nighthawk,
I thought calls, etc. were blocked on data plans. I know tablet plans are assigned a number, but understood differently.
Thanks for the clarification.

Possibly consider a Public Mobile data only plan?
