Hey @quadrapioneer did you ask telus to enable international roaming before you left? If not, that could be the issue. If you do have international roaming, have you tried to manually select a network >Settings>Carrier> Turn off Automatic.
If you didn't have international roaming enabled, you can use their chat service to save yourself some $ telus.com/chat.
