It'll never be supported. The Pixel 3 and 3 XL are already out and those devices support both VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. Eventually, TELUS will stop selling the Pixel 2 XL entirely. They've already phased out the Pixel 2. Both Google and TELUS are not going to work together to bring support for Wi-Fi calling. It's unfortunate because it's still a decent device but that's reality for you. The Pixel 4 and 4 XL will definitely get VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling support, just like the 3 and 3 XL.
