I've had a blackberry curve with Telus for 2.5 years. After one year, I was allowed to get rid of the data, so now I only have a talk & text plan. If I upgrade my phone to an iphone 5, can I keep the plan I have now or do I have to get data?

Due to change that now 2year contracts is allowed, for the phone you got for voice you need to have $55 plan. + data add on which the cheapest one would be $15. You MUST have voice + data with an iphone 5. 🙂

You would have to sign up with one of their new Share plans so $55 for talk+text and a data addon so a minimum of $70 per month

One more question actually.. if I do upgrade to the iphone 5 and get the $55 plan plus the $15 data plan, can I cancel the data plan after 30 days and/or is there a charge for this? Or do I have to wait until 1 year has gone by? Thanks again! 🙂

I'm not sure, these plans are extremely new and I think you have to keep both for the two years.

If you are the only subscriber on the account it is required that you keep the data add-on through the contract term.

Hey Nicole, you will need to change your plan to a plan compatible with iphone, it is because type of data that you use in a BB is totally different than on iphone, if you use your same bb plan on iphone it might work but you will get charges. I hope this would help you!...

Yes,You will be able to keep the same data plan.
Before use data plan sim on your iphone 5,Make sure yopur iphone is unlocked one.If it's locked,you will need to unlock it.For unlocking you can approach your service provider or else try to buy an unlocking service from any one of the online unlocking service provider like MobileUnlockSolutions.com
