Telus Fiber with non-Telus Mesh Network

Hi there,

I currently have the Wifi Hub on a gigabit fiber connection. I'm finding the Hub sometimes has spotty wifi signals and I want to opt for a non-Telus Mesh network.

Has anyone done this already, is it as simple as just unplugging the hub and replacing that with a mesh network?

Thank you!

Yes, you can run a mesh network independent of the Telus hardware, as long as you don’t have Optik TV.

Oh side note: i dont have optik tv, so just really looking to do a mesh internet setup while simplifying and hopefully getting rid of the wifi hub if not necessary

If i run a mesh network, is there any downsides with speeds on the ethernet side? A lot of the mesh wifi systems dont really talk about the ethernet side of things.

Not really sure what you mean.

A mesh network is usually slower, because of the store and forward nature of sending packets.
