Once again my copper line is down.
Checked your service outage site.
No mention of phone service ,just Internet and TV service.
Telus doesn't give a damm about copper line phone service.
I'm sure the phone service will be the last issue addressed.
Just like the last two times it went down.
Yes I know it was copper thieves before ,just like this time again.
Health and safety should be first priority ,not last. Fire ,ambulance ,police service etc.(911)
Fix the copper first !
Lots of old folks in Ogden, Lynnwood area.
Will the future service ever improve?
It sure doesn't feel friendly to me.
PS
Customer for 33 years.
I guess I'm the lazy one for staying on this long.

Phone service is actually the one that gets prioritized as that falls under CRTC rules. As such, Telus has to prioritize repairs for this. There is still an active outage for Ogden. Telus just missed listing phone service as part of the affected services. The outage was last updated about 10 minutes ago. Looking at the thickness of the cables, there are likely hundreds of homes affected if not more. It will take some time to fix every wire pair in there. This is one of the reasons Telus is transitioning to fibre. It should reduce cable thefts but it takes time to roll out fibre everywhere.

I am pretty sure the last thing repaired during the previous two outages was the copper line service. If Telus really cared it would always be the first thing mentioned.Somehow they always forget to.It's only the top dollar services that get the attention first. The CRTC may mandate it, but Telus doesn't seem to value 911 services for Ogden seniors like they do TV and Internet billing fees.
November
Considering that phone, internet and TV all share those same copper lines in Ogden, your assumption would be incorrect.
November
You make a valid point about sharing the same copper lines for all services for those of us without fibre lines.
I'm not even sure if that's available in Ogden/Lynwood area.
However I wonder if when the red/green wires are reconnected, all services magically
start working at the same time.
Or if some re-booting /setup of equipment is required.
Given the complexity of todays equipment I would think this would be a requirement after
shutting down power/equipment for extended servicing and safety requirements.
After all its not like times gone by when all you had was a simple phone connected to your copper line.
No sharing of services back then.
Until we get fibre its like putting all your eggs in one basket.
The cost for older areas being a factor.
Less work splicing several fibre lines than tens or hundreds of small wires.
Not too much scrap value in fibre.
Yes we need to increase the penalty for thieves who disrupt essential services.
Fingers tired now ,must rest.

PS
A shorter version of my long winded reply would have been.
I am pretty sure the last thing "returned to service" during the previous two outages was the copper line phone.
November
Just checked Telus outage site.
Guess what's still down?
Impacted services
Home Phone
911 Landline
Like I said ,always last on list.
So much for CRTC rules.
November
Telus says
Under investigation, suspected hardware issue.
I say
So much for reconnecting 2 wires and voila. All good.
November
Well if you think you can run new cable and reconnect several hundred (or more) wire pairs, faster than their current techs, I'm sure Telus would hire you quite quickly. The needed number of reconnections would multiply several times depending on how many cuts were made and how many different sections of cable were stolen. That will take time to fix.
You should be using your oratory skills to vent to the politicians that are being far to lenient with the scrapyards that buy the stolen copper / metals. Then complain to them about the lack of action from the police. Until that is dealt with, the thieves aren't going to be deterred.
November
I never tried to imply I could do it faster.
Speed of repair was not my complaint.
My beef is 911 services being last up and running.
As you said ,it's the same wire pair.
Yet TV and internet always seem to be up and running first.
Somehow 911 service always finishes last.
I also noted that the penalties for theft and damage to essential infrastructure should be way more severe.
As for my oratory skills ,I will take that as a compliment.👌
Nuff fer now
