I have 2 internet installations. I have 2 houses beside each other - I live in one, and have tenants in the other. I wanted to install / provide internet for them.
my install is 1.5GB fibre and I use Linksys wifi 6 mesh routers and it’s fast.
the tenant network (a service guy was just here yesterday) is not fast. A while ago a service person said the old circular routers are no longer compatible, and to get rid of them. Yesterday’s guy said “they’re fine” and installed 2 for the tenants.
they get about 30mb on their desktops.
Question: are the tall boost wifi extenders better than the old round ones, and are those in fact obsolete?

Hi @Altabear - I myself have two Boost Wi-Fi 6 at home and can get 1G at my computer directly wired to them.
I would check with the tenants if they are conducting speed tests over Wi-Fi and ask what devices they are using. It's also worth noting what website they are using to conduct a speed test and what server they are connecting to. All those factors affect the results.
If they can test using an ethernet cable connected to the modem, that will tell us what speeds they are getting to the modem and we can then diagnose each device individually

Actually when the Telus guy and I walked into my next door house and looked at the switch Telus installed with fibre a few years ago when they were first going door-to-door, he said said "boost wifi won't work with this switch", and said we must use the old round extenders (and, that "you can only have 2 extenders" which I know is not true). Also, he only had one new one, so supplied one he got from another customer. When he was done, he said the suspicious-sounding "if you have any problems, call me not Telus".
I've contacted Telus support via Twitter (because getting through the AI chatbot is impossible. I'm hopeful they will respond so I can just get all new stuff. I spend between $3k and $4k a year and would like actual new stuff.

The Telus support people on Twitter just gave me a link (which doesn't work). I let them know, and hope to hear from them again.

Also, they only have wifi. No "wired connections" have been run to them. I'd love that though.
