1.5 gbps fibre in Ontario and Ubiquiti

New Ontario customer looking to get my UDM Pro SE setup with the SFP from the Telus modem directly into my Ubiquiti setup.

Have tried using the PPPoE creds from the modem, using VLAN 40 with no success.  I read somewhere that someone used MAC Address cloning, but they didn't mention which MAC was cloned.  I tried the MAC of the modem and that resulted in no success.

Anyone in a similar situation that can help out?

Currently bridge mode works, but nowhere near the full potential of the speeds I'm paying for.

Based on the information available for Telus Pure Fibre in Ontario, here are some steps to help you set up your UDM Pro SE:

Confirm your PPPoE credentials are correct. These should be provided by Telus.

Set up VLAN tagging on your UDM Pro SE:

  • VLAN ID: 40
  • Priority: 0
  • Enable 802.1q tagging

Ensure you're using the SFP module provided by Telus.

For the MAC address cloning issue, try using the MAC address of your Telus modem's WAN port instead of the modem's main MAC address.

If you're still having trouble, try resetting your UDM Pro SE to factory settings and reconfiguring from scratch.

Make sure your firmware is up to date on the UDM Pro SE.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you may need to contact Telus support for specific configuration details for your area, as settings can sometimes vary by location.

Regarding the bridge mode not providing full speeds, this is a common issue when the router can't handle the full throughput. By setting up PPPoE and VLAN tagging correctly on your UDM Pro SE, you should be able to achieve the speeds you're paying for.
