Promotional calls. Scams?
I periodically get calls claiming to be from Telus. Are they legitimate? How can I tell?

If in doubt, contact Telus directly either by chat or one of the contact numbers listed on this site. You can find Telus's toll free numbers at the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page here. Typically it'll be 888-811-2323 but the scammers can spoof / fake the caller ID. Telus does have some others they use but it depends on the promotion.
If it's legit Telus calling, they can remove you from their list if you ask. Scammers won't. You can also reach out to Telus' Privacy Resource Centre to remove yourself too: 1-800-567-0000 or [email protected].
Also do a search on the forums here for 'scam'. A lot of others have posted discussion about their experiences and some of the tactics the scammers were trying. Including the numbers they were calling from in some cases.

The best way is what Nighthawk mentioned. Listen to what they are saying, take a note of the offer and call in to a number on our website. You can ask the agent to lave a note on your account with the offer and if it's legitimate any one of our agents will be able to read the account notes and apply the offer
