Wifi 7 Booster Band split 2.5ghz, 5ghz, 6ghz,
I currently have smart band splitting for my home, however someone recommend to have it split. however my booster settings they give the option as 2.5ghz + 5ghz and 6ghz. Wondering if I should disab...
Hi,
my smart home camera (Mi Home) is not able to connect to the Wifi boost 7.
It was able to connect to my old telus modem. like really old one.
I tried everything, I tried to seperate the bandwidths. I tried to create a guest Wifi and connect to it. Tried the Telus smart home connect feature.
Non of them seams to work.

Official Support TeamGotcha. Try this process first as it's usually the most successful one, but there are others in case it doesn't work for you.
Change the Smart Device Network Security to WPA2 Only - by default Wi-Fi 7 networks enforce WPA3 or WPA3/WPA2 transitional security. Many older Mi cameras won't handshake with that very well. So try this:
1. In a browser go to 192.168.1.254 and log in using the Admin Password (should be on the sticker adhered to your modem).
2. Once logged in, look at the main dashboard for the IP address of the Boost Wi-Fi 7 (usually looks similar: 192.168.1.XX)
3. Click that IP address link which should take you to the settings page for the Boost itself (it'll ask you to log in one more time using the Admin Password).
4. Navigate to Wi-Fi Settings --> Smart Device Network (or Guest Network) and change the Security Type from WPA3/WPA2 to WPA2-Only.
Let us know if that works!

Step 2: Lower the 2.4GHz Mode (Fixing the Wi-Fi 7/6 Compatibility)
Wi-Fi 7 uses legacy compatibility modes, but sometimes the "Preamble" or AX/BE features confuse old 802.11b/g/n chips found inside older smart cameras.Inside the Wi-Fi 7 advanced settings GUI, go to the Wireless / Advanced settings for the 2.4GHz band specifically.
Look for Wireless Mode or 802.11 Mode.
If it is set to Auto (Ax/Be/Native), change it to Legacy, Mixed Mode, or 802.11g/n Compatibility Mode. This forces the Wi-Fi 7 booster to broadcast a simplified beacon that your old Mi camera can actually read.
