Telus TV Mini not fit for purpose

We signed up as new Telus customers with internet, tv and 2 phone lines. Because of our home set up we cannot use the Telus TV mini, which is a huge downgrade on the hardware they previously provided and does not work if you have any AV system. 

Telus customer service has informed us that they literally do not have an inventory system to differentiate between the two products (TV mini and regular digital box) and instead keep sending us the TV mini.

Do not sign up for Telus TV if you have any system whatsoever; it will cost you hours of your life and a lot of frustration. The fact that they can't locate the hardware for us is crazy, and I wonder how many of their highest paying customer tier they will lose by switching to fairly useless hardware.
