TELUS Connect App Issues

The TELUS Connect app has been buggy since it was introduced. You can tell this by using it and also from the terrible reviews that it continues to get (7000 reviews with average of 2.7), literally years after it was first released. I wish TELUS would take it seriously and fix it.

Here are just a few of the issues:

Devices Tab: This tab often shows no devices, even though there are two WiFi boosters, a PVR, two STBs, two TVs and two computers connected 24/7. The only device that's connected over WiFi is one of the TVs. The other devices are hard-wired. How can there ever be no devices?

Network Tab:

Recommendations: The app shows recommendations which can't be dismissed. For example, it recommends that the TV should connected using 5G. The TV doesn't support 5G, so the recommendation isn't useful. I would like to be able to dismiss it, but there is no way to dismiss a recommendation.

Speed Test: When I try the speed test, I often get this result:

Modem

We can't get results right now.
If this persists, try manually restarting your modem.

The modem is working properly. The speed test runs almost to completion, then fails. Why doesn't it work reliably?

When it occasionally runs, the result is a green check mark. "Yes" isn't a result. If I run a speed test, it's because I want to know what the speed is! How fast is it? Yes. Truly the most useless speed test in the entire Internet.

Support Tab:

Feedback: In the support tab, there is a place to leave feedback. There, you can leave feedback and set up a virtual appointment. There are no available slots for an appointment. If you're not going to open any slots for appointments, don't offer them!

  • I had to split the post because it was longer than 2100 characters. Here is the rest:

In the Google Play store, there is an email address for app support ([email protected]). I've sent numerous emails, but I've never received a reply, not even an automated reply. If you're not going to respond to emails sent to an email address that you publicize, don't bother providing the email address!

It also references a beta test, which is always full. I've been a software developer and done software QA. I've been a beta tester. I'm very good at finding and reporting bugs. I could provide actionable feedback. If you're not going to accept requests to join the beta test, why bother mentioning that there is a beta test?

TELUS isn't a two-bit company. Why is the TELUS Connect app so terrible after so many years?
