Fiber Optic Install

It seems that the location of the Hub for my area is right outside my gate. I was aware that fibre optics was coming, but was NOT told the hub would be outside my house. This concerns me greatly.

  1. That I wasn't informed of this
  2. What affect will this have on me with the optics emission
  3. My landscape that will have light exclusion
  4. What else is Telus not telling me/us about this fibre optics install
  5. Who can I call at Telus to talk to about this

    1. There is likely a utility easement on your property.
    2. Optics have no emissions. It's just light passing through fibre strands.
    3. See 1.

As for 4 and 5, you can send TELUS_Support a message on the forums here.

Hi flower - if you're talking about the pedestal box that we refer to as the Fibre Distribution Hub we can provide some information:

    1. We install these boxes in spaces where we have RoE (Right of Entry) within city property so we typically work with local governments to gain permission and to know where to install them
    2. Fibre optic cables work because the light bounces inside the fibre with little to no loss of light. These cables are surrounded by a sheathe that blocks any potential light and protects the cable. Can you expand on what emissions you are worried about?
    3. What do you mean by Light Exclusion?
    4. Can you tell us what kind of things you are referring to?
