dialing the US
Do I need to dial 011 plus 1 then the 10 digit number to call the US from Canada? Using "1" then the 10 digit phone number has worked before, now the calls just drop, same for the toll-free number.
No, 011 is just for international. You should be able to call the US from Canada in the same way as dialling any long distance number from Canada to Canada. Sounds like there is another issue.
