Telus Pure Fiber - how to bypass NH20A with a media converter?

Hello,

Perhaps it has been discussed but I could not find an exact situation fit.

I have just switch from Bell to Telus in Ontario and the following setup worked fine for a long time.

I have plugged Telus SFP into a TPLink Media converter, entered PPPoE credentials in my PFSENSE router, VLAN to 40/Priority0 assigned to the WAN port.

The setup does not connect to the internet, media converter lights all green.

However if I move SFP to the NAH20A in bridge mode with the same PPPoE creds and VLAN it connects fine.

What could be wrong with the PFSENSE-Media Converter setup?

There are a number of things it could be:

    - MTU configuration (a possible option would be to set it to 1492)

    - Authentication timing issues (could try setting LCP Echo Interval to 30 seconds and Echo Failure to 3)

    - VLAN Interface (make sure it's configured on the physical interface before PPPoE)

    - Interface settings in PFSENSE (try setting it to full duplex, 1000Mbps)

The last thing to attempt if you haven't tried it yet would be a full power cycle.
