Door to door visit
Had a door knock by 3 different people wearing Telus T-Shirts and carrying badges to offer Internet deals. Started talking to one Pempa Tamang. Deal was interesting so I proceeded with conversation - he took my number and texted me details from his number 236-601-5210. However when I call that number, I get “this call cannot be completed as dialed”. Pempa then called me from 888-519-0122 and said it’s a recorded call to proceed with registration. He asked me to text him my drivers license photos - when I said I’m not comfortable he said I could read out the details since it’s a recorded call. I asked him to send me an email from a Telus.com email address to give me the plan details, but he sent it from [email protected] instead. When I call the 0122 number back, I get a Telus automated response but his unwillingness or inability to send anything from a Telus.com email and the issue with calling his cell made me suspicious. Is this person legitimate? I am attracted by the deal (which isn’t unreasonably cheap so not an obvious scam) but trying to be cautious.
