LOUD ! commercials

I have a concern about the annoying volume bump when programming breaks for commercials. This was a very big issue a number of years ago that I thought was regulated not to occur. Now here we are again with very load commercials. It make me want to rethink about paying for something that I never asked for and whether to continue this harassment.

What kind of audio output are you using for your television? Are you using a soundbar? There are a number of reasons this may be occurring for you (it's not something TELUS specifically has control over as the provider). There's a chance that it's due to volume leveling or dynamic range compression not being properly applied or supported by your TV set or audio system. Have you spoken with our Tech Support team about this? While they may not be able to assist (as it's again not a TELUS related issue), it's definitely worth a shot.

We use a Sonos Playbase to replace the lackluster TV speakers. We having be using the Playbase for the past 4-5 years. We have noticed the increased commercial volume for the last 2 years or so and feel that some can be getting worse. As I have mentioned, this was a big problem a number of years ago where I believe the CRTC got involved and mandated legislation to be adhered to. Things got better after that. Now it seems to be widely ignored again. I don't have the details what transpired. I just know what I know. I have looked this up where it states this first thing one should do to voice one's concern is to contact their service provider. If that does not resolve the issue, then file a complaint to the appropriate regulating authority

We appreciate you reaching out about this. We understand how frustrating it can be when commercial volumes seem noticeably louder. While we don’t control the volume levels of specific broadcasts or commercials, we recommend reaching out directly to the channel broadcaster to share your concerns.
