Android box turning my TV off.
I've setup my new Android box and I'm having some issues with the HDMI CEC integration.
I'm not always using my android box has i have an android tv and prefer using it for things like Netflix and I also game on console.
Unfortunately, HDMI CEC integration won't let me shut off the Telus box without turning my whole TV/soundbar off. I have turned off the HDMI CEC options in the settings in the box.
My remote was controlling the Optik box and TV power.
I just tried these instructions from Telus and now the remote only controls the Optik Box:
Unpairing your TELUS remote
If you would no longer like your TELUS Remote to control your TV’s volume and power, you can unpair your remote.
Press and hold the Input and Back buttons for 3 seconds until the LED on your TELUS remote lights up solid green
Press OK and wait for the LED to flash green twice (the remote has now been unpaired from your TV)
The TELUS Remote will now control only the TELUS TV Digital Box, and not your TV’s volume and power.
Hopefully that will do what you want.

That did the trick. Thanks!

Thought of that too. It didn't do a thing. I even resetted the box and said no to controlling the tv and nope, now it's still stuck on wanting to control the tv...
And I've resetted everything for nothing...

Tried that just now, and nope. Telus remote is still turning my TV off when I only want the Telus Android box to turn off...

I think I messed up during the initial setup wizard... that's the only thing I did differently when I received this replacement. Unfortunately, I didn't find a way to go through the wizard again besides "factory" reset the box...

Can you disable CEC on your TV? That seems like it should do what you want.

Have you tried unplugging the TV and box after you changed the HDMI CEC settings? My receiver specically states that any changes to HDMI CEC requires a power toggle to ensure things work as expected. From the manual:
"If HDMI Control does not work properly, the problem may be solved by turning the playback device off and on again, or by unplugging the power plug and plugging it in again. Also, HDMI Control may not work properly if the number of connected devices exceeds the limit. In this case, disable HDMI Control on devices not in use.
If the unit is not synchronized to the TV’s power operations, check the priority of the audio output setting
on the TV."HDMI CEC can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully you get it sorted out.
