HST being charged on Stream+ Subscription... in BC

I'm being charged HST on my Stream+ Subscription even though I live in BC. I've tried to get help through chat but have been given the runaround and when they try and call me, my phone just ignores it because it thinks Telus is spam (even though I haven't blocked the number).
So here I am. It's a few cents but I don't want to pay more tax... I don't want to pay any tax but them's the cards we're dealt. What do I do?

  • Yes, it does actually say HST. I think Telus have found the error and are fixing it imminently.

  • HI.....

Totally get your frustration. In BC, you should be charged 5% GST, not full HST—so it’s worth double-checking. Try contacting Stream+ or Telus billing support directly by email or a different number, and ask them to confirm the correct tax rate for your province.

    THANK YOU hstcalculator

  • In BC we are charged 5% GST and 7% PST, a total of 12%.

HST ranges from 13-15% which includes the GST.

Alberta and Yukon only charge 5% GST

    Saskatchewan is 5% & 6%

All others total higher than BC combined amount.,

Call it what you want, in BC pay no more than 12% total

  • Does your bill actually say HST?

There was complaints by consumers that one tax also taxes the the other tax and thus it ends up being 13% approx. overall.

  • HST is blended PST/GST

In BC we often pay both taxes for 12% total

That's true that we pay PST and GST for 12% but this is 13% ON HST.
HST means something specific so it's not really interchangeable.
