As AI-driven phishing and scam attempts become increasingly sophisticated and harder to spot, we’ve partnered with cybersecurity leaders at Norton to build TELUS Scam Protection directly into the My TELUS app, giving you peace of mind. Here's a breakdown of how it works, what’s included, and how to set it up. How It Works (The 4 Core Features) Once enabled in the My TELUS app, the protection runs in the background without needing separate app downloads or continuous logins: Safe Call: Screens incoming calls to auto-block known scams and label calls as spam or a verified business before you pick up. Safe SMS: Reviews incoming texts (SMS/MMS) from unknown senders to help detect and flag potential scams or phishing attempts, so you can avoid clicking risky links. Safe Email: Safe Email proactively scans up to 5 connected email accounts in your inbox and flags suspicious emails to help you know if it’s potentially a scam before opening it. AI Scam Assistant: Available 24/7 in the My TELUS app. You can ask cyber safety questions, paste text, or upload screenshots of suspicious messages (including encrypted chats like WhatsApp, iMessage, Messenger, or Instagram) and get guidance on potential scams and help you decide whether it's safe to engage. Plan Details & Compatibility Detail Information New Consumer Data Plans Included at no extra cost (starting October 20, 2026). Existing or Select Plans Addable for $3/month inside My TELUS—no rate plan change required. Device Requirements Android 10.0+ (with Google Play Store) or iOS (current or previous 2 versions). App Requirements Latest version of the My TELUS app required for initial setup. Quick FAQs Will Safe Call block legitimate calls from my doctor, pharmacy, or delivery service? Safe Call is designed specifically to block known scam numbers while labeling legitimate organizations as verified businesses. On rare occasions where a number is mislabeled, you can check your call log/voicemail and report the mislabel directly in the My TELUS app to continuously improve system accuracy. Does Safe SMS automatically scan my WhatsApp or iMessage chats? Safe SMS covers standard SMS/MMS text messages. Because third-party messaging apps like WhatsApp or iMessage use end-to-end encryption, Safe SMS cannot automatically read them. However, you can screenshot or copy any suspicious message into the AI Scam Assistant inside My TELUS for instant feedback. Does this replace device antivirus or identity theft insurance? TELUS Scam Protection is built to detect and warn against active scam calls, text links, and emails. It does not scan for local device viruses or include financial reimbursement/identity theft insurance (if you need full device malware protection, check out TELUS Online Security). How to Activate in 3 Easy Steps Open and log in to the My TELUS app. Go to the Plans & Devices tab and tap the Scam Protection tile. Follow the on-screen prompts to grant required permissions for Safe Call, Safe SMS, and Safe Email. Once permissions are set, you can close the app. Protection remains active 24/7 in the background. Hello there, I previously had an internet account with Telus and received an initial email from General Credit Services advising that I had an overdue balance on my account, after it was closed. Upon receiving the initial email, I logged into my profile and paid off the outstanding balance on the closed account. Since paying off all the outstanding charges, I have continued to receive two additional emails from General Credit Services advising that I have an overdue balance, and the latest email advised I only have 7 days from now until they will report the matter to credit bureaus. Can someone from the Telus team help to inform General Credit Services that my now-closed account is in good standing and that they can stop emailing me?39Views0likes1Comment1.5gb fibre upgrade - no new ONT, NAH or WiFi6, I'm speedcapped
Short version - Upgraded to 1.5gb plan. Tech didn't replace Nokia ONT and plugged a Telus WiFi-5 Hub into Ethernet port in wall in other room, no WiFi6 boost. Isn't the Nokia ONT supposed to be replaced with a NAH or newer ONT that has a 10gb port? I'm paying for 1.5gb but all equipment given limits me to 1gb, so I'm losing 1/3 of what I'm paying for. Long version - upgraded from the 150mb plan to the 1.5gb plan. They said my Nokia G-240-G ONT and the T3200 weren't suitable for that speed and needed replacing. Tech was booked to come, never did, some subcontractor eventually did. He brought a Telus WiFi Hub, which is WiFi5, not the WiFi6 or 7 promised. He didn't add a Network Access Hub or replace the Nokia ONT with a newer one with a 10gb wan port, and ports are capped at 1gb for all devices. Speed tests over Ethernet on a bunch of different devices confirmed 940mps was the max because the Nokia ONT and WiFi Hub ports physically cannot exceed that. This feels like a scam and false advertising and I'm really fed up. I think I was supposed to get a new ONT/Network Access Hub and WiFi6 at least, if not 7? I've had very little success calling tech support (they're usually completely clueless) so I was hoping someone here could give me some answers to call them with. Thanks in advance :)84Views0likes3CommentsBereavement: transfer deceased’s telus.net email to executor (email-only)
Hello, I’m the executor of the estate of a TELUS Home Services customer who recently passed away. Their telus.net email address is still active on their account (Account A). The estate needs to keep that email address active for the next 1–2 years while we settle affairs, since banks, government agencies and other institutions still send correspondence there. I already have my own TELUS account (Account B) and I’m happy to pay the monthly email-only fee to keep the address active. What I’m requesting: A bereavement Transfer of Ownership of the telus.net email address from Account A to an email-only service billed to me (Account B, or a new account in my name if that’s required) Cancellation of the deceased’s remaining services, but only after the email has been moved, so the mailbox isn’t deleted when Account A closes When I called in, I was told the email has to be backed up and can’t be moved from one account to another. From previous threads here, though, I understand that: TELUS offers an email-only service for customers without TELUS Internet Keeping the email after an account holder’s death is possible, just more complex, and TELUS_Support has helped route these cases to the right department telus.net addresses have been moved between accounts before (e.g. Business to Residential) I have already submitted the grant of probate and the will identifiying me as the executor TWO months ago. I am getting the run around, and every person that I speak to on the phone has a conflicting opinion. Been trying to solve this for over 2 months. My reference number is REF-261016-72B7B7 Could TELUS_Support please contact me by private message and put me in touch with the department that handles bereavement transfers of ownership for email? Thank you.
Quick answer: If you see a fallen or low-hanging wire, stay away and keep others back. Call 911 if the wire is sparking, on a road, or touching a vehicle or building. If there's no immediate danger, report it at telus.com/status or call TELUS at 1-888-811-2323 (or 611 from a TELUS mobile device). What should I do if I see a downed line? Never touch, move, or go near a fallen wire, even if it looks like a phone or internet cable. It may be touching a power line and carry high-voltage electricity. Keep other people and pets back and follow the steps below to decide who to call. When should I call 911 about a downed line? Call 911 right away if: The wire is sparking, smoking, or on fire. The wire is on a road, a vehicle, a building, or a metal fence. A utility pole is broken, leaning over traffic, or has fallen. Anyone is in immediate danger. After calling 911, call your electric utility (for example, BC Hydro, FortisBC, EPCOR, or Toronto Hydro). Not sure who it is? Check your power bill. Then report the damage to TELUS. How do I report a downed TELUS line online? Use this option if nobody is in danger. Go to telus.com/status and select the green Report an outage button in the top right corner. On the right side of the page, select Report an outage. Choose the reason for your report, such as "Cable damage or low hanging wire." Add as much detail as you can, including a photo if you can take one safely from a distance. Submit the form. How do I report a downed TELUS line by phone? Call TELUS Technical Support at 1-888-811-2323 (or 611 from a TELUS mobile device). Select Service Interruption or Public Safety Hazard. Give the exact location: a street address, the nearest intersection, or a nearby landmark. Say what you see: a fallen cable, a damaged cable box on the ground, or a leaning or broken pole. If you can read it from a safe distance, give the pole number on the metal tag at eye level. Never go near the pole to look for it. What if the wire is on a shared electrical pole? Many poles carry both electrical and telecom lines. If the damaged wire is attached to a pole that also carries power lines, tell your electric utility as well as TELUS so crews can coordinate a safe repair. Frequently asked questions Can a downed phone or internet cable hurt me? Yes. A fallen cable can touch a power line further along its path and become energized. Treat every fallen wire as dangerous. Who do I call first: TELUS or 911? Call 911 first if there's sparking, fire, a blocked road, a wire on a vehicle or building, or anyone in danger. Otherwise, report the wire to TELUS. What should I do if a wire falls on my car? Stay inside the vehicle. Honk your horn to get attention, call 911, and wait for emergency crews to tell you the power is off before you get out. Warn anyone who approaches to stay back. Is this the same as reporting an internet or phone outage? No. This page covers physical damage to lines and poles. For service problems such as no internet or TV, visit telus.com/status. What details help TELUS find the problem faster? The street address or nearest intersection, what the damage looks like, and a photo or pole number if you can get them safely. After cancelling my Norton Online Security account by phone with Telus yesterday I discovered my Google workspace Telus.net email had been deleted. It appears no other service has been affected. I have Internet, iCloud email, Gmail etc still active but I need my historical emails from the Telus.net address. I can't log in to Telus. I had to dial zero and get transferred to an agent yesterday who said it would take 24 to 48 hours to recover my email address. Has anyone had similar issues?420Views1like21CommentsUnable to escalate damaged TELUS infrastructure complaint
I am not a TELUS customer and need assistance escalating a complaint regarding damaged TELUS infrastructure at my property. On Thursday, a delivery truck knocked down TELUS communications lines (installed by previous homeowners), and they are now hanging low over a shared driveway. I spent over an hour with TELUS arranging a repair appointment that evening for the earliest they could offer: this Sunday from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. TELUS sent me appointment reminders on both Friday and Saturday, and I confirmed the appointment. No technician attended today, and I received no cancellation or notification; I even received a notification saying the tech was on their way at 1030am. I then spent about two hours on the phone with TELUS Tech Support trying to find out what happened. I was repeatedly told they couldn't provide information because I am not a TELUS customer, and I was eventually told there was no record of the original ticket, despite TELUS sending multiple appointment reminders and receiving my confirmation. A new appointment has now been scheduled for Wednesday from 4–6 p.m. After that call, I also contacted TELUS's 310-CUTS emergency repair line for damaged infrastructure. They said they couldn't help and directed me back to Tech Support. I have now spent more than three hours on the phone, lost much of today waiting for a technician who never arrived, and the damaged lines remain hanging over our shared driveway. My neighbours need the lines to be repaired ASAP, as they have a large trailer they need to bring through the driveway. I would like to formally escalate this to TELUS Management. However, the online complaint process requires a My TELUS login, which I cannot access because I am not a TELUS customer. TELUS and this situation are running me ragged. Could a TELUS representative please contact me privately so I can provide the ticket/appointment information, screenshots and my full written complaint?151Views0likes3CommentsTELUS TV has a mind of its own
Beyond the fact that TV programming has become mundane and the addition of these ridiculous one show channels are useless, the biggest thing that has me wanting to cancel TELUS TV is that their hardware has a mind of it’s own. The box powers down on its own even after just a few minutes of use. Now it changes to previously viewed channels on its own and today it interrupted my viewing by randomly opening YouTube, unprompted. It can sometimes take several minutes to have the TV turn on or the channel guide to populate. This is on GB Pure Fibre (though I’m paying for that speed I only get 400 up/down). At this point I am ready to cancel and pay the cancellation fee. It’s a huge cost for such horrible service. I can get everything I need from CBC Gem and other apps for a fraction of the cost without having to endure using a faulty product.139Views1like1Comment
