HI. So our Strata Complex is switching over to Telus PureFibre, but we didn't get any explanation on how it "should" be done. I have reviewed what Telus says on there FibreUpgrade page, and tried to understand The-Story-of-My-Fibre-Install forum post, but I have some questions. My Line Diagram for Fibre installation: TELUS CO --- "Last 100 metre" Cable Phone Pole --- House (External) --- Drill Through Wall --- Fibre Goes where?? Telus runs Optical cable from the CO to the "last mile", and then to your home. But where on (or in) your home does the Telus Fibre Optical cable terminate and what is that called (Demarcation box? )? Does the Telus Fibre connect to an active "Fibre-to-Copper" conversion box? What is the general term for this box, and what is the 2021 current brand / model that they use (so I can look up its datasheet đ )? I assume this conversion box connects up to the existing (twisted pair) copper wiring you have in your house (so no need to run Cat 5e or 6, copper Ethernet cables, or different then RJ11 copper phone cables), so that you can use all your current phone and router electronics. Is this a wrong assumption, and if so what does the conversion box output? In a multi-level house / townhome, will Telus run the Fibre cable to the mid-level of the house even if the current copper house wiring terminates on the ground floor / basement? Now that I write this maybe that isn't the best idea, but the thought of having an active "fibre to copper" conversion electronic device in my unfinished parking garage, on the ground floor, rarely monitored, seems like a bad idea (heat/fire safety for example, or just dust, car soot, and bugs damaging it). What would be the recommended way to "hook up" Telus PureFibre to a 3 level Townhome, where the 1st level is just a ground floor garage? Personally I would like to see all active electronics on the 2nd level, somewhere above the garage. Thanks, and feel free to add any information you think I didn't ask but would be good to know - links are fine.11KViews0likes3CommentsPure Fibre install
Is it still possible to have Telus run the fibre line from our electric room to my strata unit. A bit of background. I bought the unit in my building on January this year, the previous owner I bought it from unfortunately did not allow to install the fibre line to the Unit when they were doing the fibre upgrades. I was told that Telus fibre was available and when the first technician came to instal the equipment we questioned why that was not fibre and we were told âthis is how we are doing it nowâ and kept saying that it was fibre. Weâve been having inconsistent and slow speeds around 650 down and up. And Iâve had multiple calls with technical support regarding this. We are the only unit in the building with no fibre line directly to our unit. Telus keeps telling us that they canât do anything about it. I just feel as a customer that I should not be expected to accept the fact it is what is when Telus has the means and capability to put the fibre line to my unit and shouldnât have to go through all this trouble. They have a mandate to retire copper lines and yet I still have a copper line. My question is how do I get Telus to have them put a fibre line in my unit, it was initially approved the strata property manager and it was voted on by owners to have the lines installed. Why is this so difficult and why do I need to be calling multiple times telling them itâs not fibre to my unit. This is very frustrating and Iâm thinking of going with Shaw.3.4KViews0likes4CommentsWhy does the technician require access to the electrical room?
I am having Telus install Internet for my apartment unit. The technician came and said they needed access to the electrical room, which I did not have at the time. So we needed to reschedule. The strata is now telling me that the technician should not need to access the electrical room since Telus is already set up in each apartment unit and they are asking why he needs electrical room access. So why does he need to use the electrical room?Solved3KViews0likes2CommentsPurefibre Internet Gigabit and Optik TV Install Nightmare
I'm having a horrible time getting my internet hooked up. Has anyone else had any issues with TELUS technician "no shows"? I have had 3 confirmed appointments booked in the last ten days and each time the technician has failed to show up. TELUS technical support has been no help. I think I've spent more time with them in the last couple of weeks that my own family. The only thing that keeps it fresh is that every time I call TELUS technical support it's like starting from square one. I have to spend ten minutes explaining all of the previous failures of the technical support team, then they apologize profusely, then they tell me the problem has been solved. When I realize problem hasn't been solved, I call back and we start all over. It's an exquisite little dance we repeat over and over again.2.1KViews1like3CommentsMissed Appointments & Install issues
Yeah, so Iâve been dealing with TELUS for the past three weeks trying to get my fibre internet installed, and honestly, Iâm exhausted. Iâve made 16 calls, spent over five hours on the phone, including being on hold, getting transferred, and waiting for callbacks, and Iâm still in the same mess. Customer service has actually been great. The managers Iâve spoken to have been really helpful, and Iâve been patient and polite because I know itâs not their fault. They understand the frustration, and I appreciate that. The problem is the third-party installation technicians TELUS has hired. These guys have straight-up lied twice. They marked the appointments as âcustomer didnât answer the phoneâ or âdidnât answer the door,â even though I have cameras around my house. I checked the footage, and they never even showed up. On top of that, they put in the notes that they stayed at my property for two hours, which is obviously a lie. They basically got paid for doing absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, Iâve had to take time off work just to be home for these appointments, only for no one to show up. And itâs not like I havenât been flexible. Iâve had seven different appointments scheduled, rescheduled, and shuffled around because TELUS keeps calling me, saying, âOh, we can move it up a dayâ But every time the day actually comes, nothing happens. To make it worse, when I did manage to get a technician on the phone, he didnât even care when I told him what happened.I told him that TELUS called me and explained that they canceled my appointment because I supposedly didnât answer my phone. So I told the technician that I did answer, that I had been waiting, and that I even had camera footage proving no one showed up. His response? âYeah, OK, thatâs fine and hung up.â No apology, no explanation, just complete indifference. Itâs been almost a month of dealing with this back and forth,Has this happened to anyone else?1.5KViews2likes2CommentsMess of cables in cabinet with network access hub
The cabinet in my home where the network access hub is installed, is a total mess of cables. I can barely get the cover on. Telus left it like this after installation. Can I get them to come back and tidy this up and get rid of the mess of excess cable, or is anything within my property my landlordâs responsibility?711Views0likes2CommentsHow to View and Change Your TELUS Technician Appointment

When I submit my address on the telus.com website it says Telus TV+ is available and can be ordered now. After I submitted my order request, the salesperson that called me said their system shows that Telus TV is not available in Ottawa. Either the website is wrong or the salespeople they have calling customers are wrong. So, is it available or not?199Views0likes12Comments
