SmartHome Security
23 TopicsDo you need WiFi for all SmartHome devices to work?
If I've got the control panel, and several sensors (door, motion, CO2, smoke, flood, glass), do I need WiFi to make them work? I understand I would likely need WiFi to be able to control/monitor the systems from my phone, but what if I am getting the security system set up before the WiFi. Will someone (Telus?) be alerted in some way if any of the items are triggered? Can I still arm the home from the control panel itself? Thanks!Solved8.6KViews0likes2CommentsTelus SmartHome Security Login
I try to login through the web via MyTelus and then want to manage SmartHome Security, it asks me to log into it using SmartHome Security credentials. I try using MyTelus login and it does not work. So I try the forgot password function and enter email that is associated with MyTelus account and the email never comes including spam folder. “Send me a login link” works in that I do see the email come through but it ends up for logging into MyTelus account. I do see my security account under MyTelus front page along with my other Telus services so it does appear to be already linked. I am wondering is Telus SmartHome login supposed to be the same as MyTelus log in or is it completely seperate?I try to log in to MyTelus and manage SmartHome Security, but it asks me to log in using SmartHome Security credentials. At the moment of writing this I have to admit to being pretty upset. A few months ago, after a very crazy and distressing emergency move, when I was getting my Internet set up, a Telus Sales Agent happened to be doing door to door sales. He was able to get us a better Internet deal than what I’d been intending to get online, and said that because I’m a Koodo mobility customer, this would include a free doorbell cam. Well, cut to now, when I’ve finally had a chance to really take a closer look at my bill only to see the SmartHome Security Automation service — a service I never asked for, was never told about, and that I’m paying an extra $33 dollars a month for that I frankly can’t afford. Do some research, and realize this includes the use of my supposedly “free” door cam, and some smart plugs the technician had installed (that we don’t use) without saying anything to us. Do some more research, and see that to cancel this service, I’d still be obligated to pay $35/mo until the end of my contract for something I, just to make myself very clear, never asked for and was never told about. Frankly, this kind of underhanded sales has me really questioning if Telus is the kind of company I want to keep giving my business to if this doesn’t get resolved.6.7KViews4likes3CommentsSwitched from Vivint - False Alarms now due to Telus system
Was recently migrated over to Telus from Vivint and am wondering if anyone else is having issues with their panel and sensors going offline, as well as any "false alarms" being triggered in the middle of the night? We have 2 panels and 1 consistently is offline and rebooting. Our plug in sensor does the same thing. It is continually offline and needs to be taken out and plugged back in. Our alarm went off at 11:30 the other night indicating the basement window was open. When I got down to the basement, the window was not opened. Phoned into the security line, who had the wrong address and last name registered for the phone number I was calling from. (Obviously the data migration from Vivint to Telus wasn't 100% accurate.) They werent able to tell me why the alarm falsely triggered and was told that I had to phone tech support the next morning. Talked to Tech support and they said that the window sensor disconnected from the panel as my panel needed to be updated with the latest firmware so thats what triggered the alarm. They couldn't tell me why none of the other 8 sensors didn't disconnect or why the firmware didn't automatically update. With Vivint these updates were automatic. Tech support indicated this is a larger problem and that they are working on updating the firmware on panels as quick as they can but have no timeline when this will be completed. So, in the meantime there could be potentially false alarms that occur again! I was a customer with Vivint for 6 years and never experienced a false alarm in the middle of the night or sensors excessively being offline and disconnected. Very very dissappointed with this move over to Telus.2.9KViews0likes6CommentsAnimal Detection
Greetings Telus Community. We have an issue with dog owners not picking up their dog's feces. The issue with the TELUS Smart Home Security is the animal detection feature is not accurate and is in need of improvement. I was wondering if other members of the community noticed the same issue when dog owners walk their dogs in front of your house.Solved2.7KViews0likes1CommentMobile app has delay showing open Window/Door (3-4 min)
Hi, When I open a door or window, it takes about 4 min to show in my Mobile app (or website) when I close the door, it is instantly updated. When Lock a door lock or unlock a door lock it is instant. The issue is *ONLY* when a Door or Window is opened. So if someone opens a window and keeps it open for 2 min then close it, and I look at the history of that door, it shows the window was never opened! Is this issue isolated to me or others have similar experiences.1.7KViews0likes1CommentReceived call for home security offering 300 dollars worth
Received a call and the person on the phone told me that I am offered 300 worth of security and declined the offer multiple times and he was very insistent making me repeat multiple times until I agreed in the call he told me that since I wanted to do DIY if I dont install in a month I would have to pay 100 dollars I was ok whit it but did not inform me that I would automaticaly entrer a montly billing cycle that ended up going to 315 dollars after a couple of months when I found out and called for assistance in the matter they where able to lower it but still came out as valid but when I asked to cancel it I was informed that I would have to pay 2000 dollars very confused on how the security items that I recived would cost that much and no knollege that I would have to pay that but that is when I was explained that I am in a contract to pay the monthly bill for 60 months and on the phone call was never informed of this contract the person on the phone who contacted me made it seem that it was a gift from Telus and that once installed and activated on the app I would pay for the service monthly like the phone bill never told of contract and now have to pay for the next 57 months for something I have not installed yet because of time and personal issues in the call whit the assistant they could not get in contact whit this agent that did not inform me of such matters and lied about what the offer was and once again I was declining since the start of the call saying I am ok I dont need it and dont want it still got the boxes sealed in the corner.1.3KViews0likes2CommentsDoorbell Camera only records for 30 seconds?
Hey there! Last summer we had an Alarm.com ADC VDB750 Wired Video Doorbell Camera installed by Telus Security. The issue I am having is that it only records for 30 second increments and then won’t record again for 30 seconds. Is there a way to get it to record 24 hours a day without breaks? Our camera constantly misses recording key moments due to these 30 second breaks between recordings and it makes the camera completely useless.1.1KViews0likes3CommentsYour SmartHome Security services have not yet been linked!
I recently saw a thread titled "Your SmartHome Security services have not yet been linked" which is exactly the situation I am in. I have an appointment tomorrow, I received a message to have the SmartHome app downloaded and logged in. When I log in I get the "Your SmartHome Security services have not yet been linked" message. What odd is my current alarm system was acquired by Telus and I am merely upgrading so I thought it would be fine. When I originally called to set up the upgrade appointment, I received the contract the person on the phone said I would have access to the #\SmartHome app immediately. I called the support line, waiting over 1 hour, to be told this has to be done by the tech during the visit. I am hoping this is factual otherwise I will have to repeat the process of calling in during the installation. I am getting conflicting information on this. Do I need this set up before the appointment or during the appointment. Thanks,1.1KViews1like1CommentTELUS Security decals and lawn signs
Is there anyone have the same kind of service problem? I started My SmartHome security plan in August, After installation of the devices, I found that the technician did not leave security decals and lawn signs. I tried many times to call back to the customer service to get those windows stickers and lawn sign. Customer service told me over the phone that they can send those things back to my house but never receive anything. It's so disappointment. And it's a very annoying process to get someone (real person!) to respond. There's no online chat nor direct email contact that can reach Telus. Or am I too stupid to get help using ways other than phone calls (it's really frustrating to wait long time for someone to pick up the phone)?Solved799Views0likes3Comments
