I have a old dell monitor with vga only and i wanted to use an unused telus 4k box to make a small cozy entertainment area. So i got a hdmi to vga male to male cord and plugged it in and with no output. I went through all sources on the monitor (which is only 2) but no video showed. I made sure the cable worked with my nintendo switch and it worked fine.
I also tested the telus box to a regular tv hdmi to hdmi and it had video. Anyone know why this is or have a solution?

VGA doesn't support HDCP. That is the one thing I can think of.

Can you test the adapter on another source with HDMI output like a computer? Not all adapters are 100% compliant with standards, especially off-brand ones.

Tested it multiple times with multiple different devices/monitors and I confirmed that it’s just a telus problem.
