Stingray Music

Stingray music on Telus tv sucks since last fall.  Difficult to change channels. Don’t understand profiles. No instructions anywhere to navigate how to use. Why the change? Everything worked perfectly before “update”. If no improvements, seriously considering changing providers. Please advise.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Selecting a Stingray channel from the guide will start the Stingray app. The app is slow to start so you have to be patient. When it starts you'll be prompted to select a profile, create a new profile or exit to TV. If you don't want to use the app then select Exit to TV and the screen will be blank while the music is playing. If you want a different channel just use the guide button or the channel number directly.

If you choose to use the app by selecting a profile then you can switch to other music channels within the app. There are more music channels available in the app than guide channels. Selecting a music channel while in the app doesn't change the channel selected in the guide. When you exit the app you will be in the original channel you selected to start the app.

While in the app you can't enter a guide channel number directly to switch channels. However you can press the guide button to select a channel.

Profiles are used to save individual user settings like favorites. Each profile can have their own.

What do you mean by "difficult to change channels"? Are you using the Stingray app or the guide channels?

The guide channels.

I don’t get it. I created a profile but it doesn’t seem to do anything. If I’m on a channel it forces me to select a profile as it times out by selecting my profile and then plays a different channel from what I was just listening to. Makes life more complicated as it fixes something that wasn’t broke. Very ANNOYING! And unnecessary.

WHAT A USELESS REPLY!
Please get a real person to reply who I can speak to directly to describe the problem and tell me how it can be usfull.

I also went to the Telus app page on my TV and selected the Stingray music app. I thought I might be able to create a list of my favourite channels but it wouldn’t let me. Or, at least, the programming is not finished or user friendly. And as a reward for my helping Telus to debug their code, they add commercials to where there used to be none. Might have to start looking at other companies’ services.

Telus used to be such a great company with fantastic customer service. But now it is striving to reach the bottom. My broker likes the stock because they are now more focused on the bottom line than delivering a good product. He told me he, himself spent 6 hours with customer support at Telus a couple of weeks ago and wasn’t happy. I am still wait in for the fibre in my Calgary neighbourhood that was promised 4 years ago.

If Telus thinks they've fixed the crappy Stingray issues, they are sadly mistaken. Maybe pay someone a little extra to fix the problem!!

Yes, I think things are getting worse. They cut off songs before they finish, they insert the same ads at full volume between songs, and offer no explanation why anyone needs a profile. When I select a channel it plays music while asking me to click on my profile. As soon as it switches to my profile, it plays a different piece of music, usually not as nice as the one I was just listening to. I don’t know why they don’t Beta test apps before they release them and require them.

Get rid of Stingray, Telus.
Put it back the way it was, or get rid of it.

It reflects badly on you, Telus, unless you fix it.
Get rid of Stingray or watch your customers disappear.
So many problems with Stingray.
