Hey all,

We've seen your questions about SmartHome security both in our community and outside of it and wanted to officially launch the SmartHome Security board for all your questions and feedback. To kick it off, we've put together a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you have any questions or thoughts not included here, feel free to post your question to the board!

    • To use TELUS SmartHome Security products, you will need high speed internet service to support outdoor camera use and to be within the TELUS Mobility HSPA coverage area. Visit our Coverage Map to find out if you qualify.

What happens if I am outside the Coverage Map?

    • If you are outside of the coverage map range or looking for a specific security feature for your home, call the TELUS Custom Security System team at 1 855-909-8277. We can assist with the following features:

      • Continuous video recording

      • Alternative to wireless system because TELUS cell coverage is unavailable

What is a Z Wave?

    • Z-Wave is a low power protocol, which lets devices run on batteries for years at a time while communicating relatively complicated information. However, to be able to do that it transmits at a reduced power and its signal can more easily be blocked. Without any obstructions, a single Z-Wave device's range is advertised as 100 feet in open-air.

It depends entirely on how the switch is wired. You should discuss with an electrician to make this determination.

HI.

I have an appointment to install Smarthome security. But, I want the guy to come in my house to install and test it. I live in Chilliwack.

Is this possible?

Thank you.

Arnie.

@Arnie1  With the virus tech are not allowed into your house they  are doing installs  remotely by cell phones. You have to wait unless you can do it that way. Polecat

This can be done few different ways. Looks like your house is prewired so thisakes things easier. If you are moving to new home just schedule appointment and have a security technician to do this. It's a fairly easy task when house is prewired.

I am moving and Fibre with telus is not available in my new home. So I need another providers internet connection until they get fibre to the area (I was told sometime in 2023). Can I hook up my security in my new home with another providers internet?
