I was getting conflicting information about watching 4K channels via a 4K Apple TV box since before I changed over to Telus services. I found it hard to find the information I needed on this forum and different Telus staff told me no, and also yes.
I asked for an email from Telus for clarity and received the following:
Hi ******,
Customers can watch 4K channels on the Apple TV box if they have the Apple TV 4K 32GB box, an active subscription to TELUS TV+, an internet connection, an iTunes account or Apple ID set to Canada, and a Gen 4 or higher Apple box. Additionally, customers must have a HDTV3 TV and purchase an HDMI cable. The Apple TV box allows customers to watch movies and shows in 4K HDR, access the Apple TV App, download games from the App Store, view iCloud Photos, connect Apple Music to their home theater, and share photos and videos with AirPlay.
Sincerely,
Your TELUS team
So I went ahead and bought the newest available Apple TV box (2022 - 4K - 3rd gen).
Those of you with an Apple TV 4K box and a TV subscription with 4K channels will know this is not correct information. Looks like I am stuck with the apple TV box I purchased that cannot display 4K (Sportsnet) channels through the Telus TV+ app, and and the Sportsnet+ App only displays in 1080p.
Does anyone know if the Telus TV+ app is ever going to be updated to support 4K channels?
Thanks.

From what I'm seeing in our documentation is that it should work. I'll flag this to our product team and share any updates. Thanks for the feedback!
