Is it possible to block someone's number verses changing mine??

The answer is no, but yes.

Unlike on their landline service, telus does not offer the ability to block #s from calling you on their network. That said, there are applications you can get for most smartphones that do this, some are even built in (like on the newer versions of iOS for iPhone).

What model of device do you have?

You can also block a contact on Android phones. You will need to add the phone number as a contact and then set the blocked status on that contact.
