Hi Telus,
Can you give us a timeframe for the release of the GDR2 update on your network ?
Also, I have an unlocked HTC 8x, when GDR2 comes out, will I also get it?
Thanks!

You should of already gotted GDR2 on youur 8X if it is an unlocked eurpoean one. I myself am waiting for it on an unlocked Rogers 8X. Samsung also released GDR2 for european unlocked Ativ S' so it shouldn't be too long until we get it. Also Nokia has been pretty insane with their devices so it should be out pretty soon.

Hi Silver_Arrow,
My 8x is an unlocked Rogers like yours (with a dinky 8Gb, meh).
I've heard of problems with GDR2 and the HTC 8X : it may make it generally slower and other bugs, so I'm not so eager to get it anymore...
Also, the fixes it brings are pretty minor and not what I've been really wanting... Bah, the OS will mature with time I guess...

Bell is rolling out GDR2 for the Samsung ATIV...
TELUS, any word on GDR2 from you? Would my unlocked HTC 8X receive it?

That reads more like "these are our current versions", doesn't mention what is upcoming, and it seems to only list "official" TELUS phones... what about BYODs?

Thanks WongTong.
I appears nothing is on the horizon yet for Windows Phones; we'll have to wait and see.
Can anyone confirm if a BYOD (ie: unlocked Windows Phone from another network) would receive updates on the Telus network?

We won't have anything deployed on the network to filter GDR2 on BYOD devices. Provided the device is unlocked correctly it should work.

You'll get the update if Rogers push it.
There's a unique code per phone/carrier combination. You can't change that without flashing your phone so basically, you still have a 8X on Rogers network. When your phone check on the microsoft server if there's a update that has been approved, it check the code and you are allowed or not to download...

Yup the device is unlocked but I don't have my SIM in it and it still says it is a Rogers Device. But the update should be really soon for all the devices.

Keep an eye on our software updates page at http://mobility.telus.com/en/BC/Software-Updates/index.shtml for any upcoming updates. We get our updates from the same page.

Any ETA for the GDR2 release?
Has anyone with a HTC 8x received the GDR2 update on Telus?
The software update schedule page doesn't list anything for WP8...

THe 8X was never released on Telus. As is it looks like there is now a world wide push of GDR2 and Amber by Nokia around the world so Canada shoudl get it soon.

About the 8x never released on Telus : are you implying there won't be an update for it on Telus?

I've started my harassment campaign on the Rogers forum...
