Was Wondering if this Unlocked Phone was Compatible with Telus's Requirements (Samsung-G S5 Mini)

Hey, I was wondering if this phone was compatible with Telus's network requirements.

Also, if it is; how does one go about attaining the appropriate SIM card as an existing customer?

Thanks a bunch!

-Edit-

I'm planning on purchasing the unlocked phone from Amazon if that wasn't clearly stated.

Thanks Again!

It appears to be compatible. Please note you will not receive software updates for it through Telus and it is an older phone. If you have an existing SIM card in your current Telus phone, and it's the same size as the one the Samsung uses, just transfer it over and you're done. If it's a different size go to any Telus Mobility store and but a new SIM. They're usually like $10. Simply log in to your Telus Mobility account online and under Change Phone, choose SIM card and enter the SIM ID# off the card and save it. Within 15 minutes the card is active.

For unlocked phones, one other option to consider is the OnePlus. It's got way better specs, it's also unlocked, and it's cheaper. It also has better privacy controls than anything Samsung offers. https://oneplus.net/ca_en/one

EDIT: If considering this for an article note:

Any phone with 3G/WCDMA/HSPA frequencies of 850MHz and 1900MHz should work.

For 4G/LTE it's much more specific. Telus' network supports 2100MHz only at present.

Any phones imported from China won't work on LTE here as China has a proprietary form of LTE.

Thank you very much Nighthawk, you've answered all my questions and I appreciate it very much.

I'm not one who's particularly worried about software updates as I once went with an un-updated LG Optimus One for 4 years. It recently lost the ability to hold a consistent charge, so I've decided to get a new phone.

The reason I chose the S-G S5 is because it's a popular series (Galaxy series) and it is within my price range, but more specifically: has Micro-SD support (up to 64GB).

The One-Plus is superior in almost every way, except for the support of Micro-SD compatibility.

So now I sit here on the fence of which device to choose.

Note: I very much admire your recommendation Nighthawk.

OnePlus or Samsung + OTG adapter + portable 2.5" USB powered hard drive = a ton of storage. Also USB2 flash drives work fine since they use next to no power.

I have an S6 Edge here with no MicroSD slot and I can plug in my older USB2.0 WD MyPassport Ultra 250GB drive to it and it works great. Only harder part is ejecting it. You have to go under Settings > Storage > (Scroll down) Unmount OTG Storage. Then you can unplug it. 🙂

It will not work with a USB 3.x external portable hard drive as I suspect it needs too much power. (I have a 1TB ADATA HV620)

Great idea @NFtoBC! Let me see what we can throw together. 8-)

Thanks for the idea Nighthawk! I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. In the mean time, I'll just get the 64Gb 1+1.

Thanks for all the help. Good tidings.
