Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the Nokia 8 will work on the Telus network. I think it will but I'd just like to make sure before trying. This is what I managed to find online:
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2 (dual-SIM model only)
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE-A (3CA) Cat9 450/50 Mbps
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes
Assuming it works, is it possible the service will be spotty using the Nokia 8? For example, is it possible that this phone works with Telus but on fewer bands than a phone like the Pixel 2? So if one band isn't available it can jump to another? Or is it simply that if it works it works and that's all that matters? Hopefully this question makes sense!

For 3G/WCDMA/HSDPA Telus uses band 2 and band 5. (1900MHz, 850MHz)
For 4G Telus primarily uses band 4/AWS (1700MHz/2100MHz). In some rural areas one of the four 700MHz variants may be used.
In theory the Nokia 8 will work. It will not have VoLTE since it was not a phone purchased from Telus.

Telus doesn't support GSM so those bands aren't going to make a difference. For 3G, Telus uses band 4, which is 1700/2100 or 850/1900. For LTE, you are fine with the Nokia 8. You will more than likely have to manually input your APN settings though to get everything working fine. Depending on the region you are going to be using it in. That could slightly impact what bands you have to work with.
The Pixel 2's support more banks than the Nokia 8, including 3G band 4. Most of the Telus LTE coverage is band 2, 4, 7 but also 28 and 29.

Telus uses hspda 850 1900 for data and voice.
Don't expect the Nokia will support voice over lte on the telus network

Thanks for the replies everyone. Good info to know. Seems like VoLTE is what I'd be missing, which doesn't seem like it'd be a big deal.
