Nexus 6 Marshmallow Update

Just Moved In

I've got a Moto Nexus 6 and it is October 20th today and an update for my phone came out October 5th and I should have gotten it between October 5th and 2 weeks after but I have not gotten the update and I have read in several places that it is probably my provider?

From what I understand, Google should be releasing updates for Nexus devices directly to them though in some cases the update appears to be going through some of the carriers also. It is possible Google is also doing the updates in waves too to prevent the servers from getting overloaded. If the update has to go through the carriers, it can take more time depending on when they first received it and what changes the carriers are doing but there is no easy way to be sure.

Rogers seems to show Marshmallow as the current OS for both the Nexus 5 and 6 so I imagine Telus won't be far behind if the OTA update is going through them and not Google directly.

Nexus phones get the update directly from Google. TELUS is not involved in the process. My daughter's Nexus 5 received the Marshmallow update a couple of weeks ago.

@xray nice to hear that TELUS doesn't do carrier update delays like other carriers. So I'm just waiting on Google directly.
