Moto G KitKat update breaks dialer ?!?

Just Moved In

When you open the dialer and switch to keypad it will show a blank screen,

you have to hit back and click the keypad again to show it.

The german update for the Moto G doesn't seem to have that issue!

Please fix asap as this is a serious issue, cannot dial emergency numbers quickly as

the dialer doesn't show up - if someone else uses the phone they won't know what to do.

Also, I'm guessing there's no way to display the keypad by default like in Jelly Bean ?!?

The default to contacts is ridiculous, I mean when I want to dial a number I want a keypad ...

Thanks in advance,- phone is nice and fast but these Android updates are buggy.

This issue is because you probaby have old sim car v2

You need new sim card v3, that will fix it. I had same issue ...went to telus store and they gave me new sim card for free...it fixed the issue.

There are a couple of steps you can try:

1. Reboot the phone

2. Clear the cache for the system UI

3. Clear the dialer cache.

4. Do a factory reset

I've confirmed via a Koodo tech agent that it is indeed the SIM card, as many Koodo customers were reporting the same issue and we had to delve deeper into the issue. You need a V3 SIM and it fixes the problem. In the mean time, Motorola has delayed the rollout of 4.4.2 until they can address this concern.
