Help! Desperate: Official Alcatel One Touch Pop Icon update broke it!

Hello

I checked for updates and there was one available. So I started the update process. The phone restarted and said it was installing the update. This happened 3 times and now it's in the Android system recovery. I tried "wipe data/factory reset" but that did not work, it keeps going to recovery.

Searching on the internet I saw that I could reinstall the stock rom but I can't find it anywhere.

I'm sadden by this, I've never seen an official update break a phone.

Can anyone help me? It is an Alcatel One Touch Pop Icon, model 7040t.

Thank you!

I suspect you'll need to contact the manufacturer. If the phone restarted mid update when it shouldn't have, it may have corrupted some files causing a failure. The manufacturer may have the stock ROM available but I've never dealt with Alcatel before.

Does recovery mode do anything or give you any options?

No it doesn't other than to reboot the system, install from ADB, factory reset (which doesn't work), wipe cache, apply update from external storage. 😞

So I should contact Alcatel directly?

Google the firmware it exists. Flash it at your own risk..

I did but never found it. It seems Alcatel is not as popular as other devices. I didn't even find a custom ROM or recovery for it. I'm no expert though.

http://firmwarefile.com/alcatel-one-touch-pop-c9 is the only ROM i can find that is close...

Thanks but that didn't work. I've tried this and Alcatel's upgrade tool but neither see my phone. I've tried on two different computers.

This is a ridiculous situation and I'm wasting a lot of time just because an official update pushed by Telus failed.

Then contact Alcatel support and see if they have something that will work.

So I contacted them and they tried to make me do exactly what I had already tried. So I had to call time of death.

Thanks to everyone. This is a really sucky situation.

Time to sell it on ebay for parts Smiley Happy Probably be the last Alcatel you purchase and chalk it up as a lesson learned

Completely yeah. I'm done with Alcatel for good! I don't even think I'd get anything for it on eBay. I'm just gonna discard it.

Just in case someone still needs the official firmware for One Touch Pop Icon 7040t, I was able to fix mine with the file I downloaded from this link.

Hope you find it useful!
