I have had the same issue that you are experiencing with the Google Play Store. Here are some ideas that might help get the app working properly again:
1) Turn the phone off
2) Remove the battery and wait about 3 seconds
3) Replace the battery back into the phone
4) Turn the phone back on
5) Once the phone is back on the home screen, wait about another 3 seconds just to make sure the phone is up and running then click the Google Play Store app and that should work.
If by chance these ideas do not work then the problem is not the phone. It may be that Google is experiencing technical issues on their end. Another suggestion would be to try accessing the app later in the afternoon or early evening. I have accessed the app later in the afternoon or evening and the Play Store worked just fine.
