What were you using for email before the migration? Were you just using Telus Webmail, or something else like Outlook or Thunderbird?

yes I was using thunderbird?

If you were using Thunderbird with POP3 like I was, then it is most likely that the only contacts you have are in the Thunderbird Address Book. They should not be gone. However, they will not be accessible when composing email in GMail. They still should be in Thunderbird. Thunderbird has an extension called gContactSync which I have installed in Thunderbird and it initially seemed to to be keeping Goggle Contacts in sync with the Thunderbird Address Book, but it does not seem to be working perfectly. It is a work in progress for me. Are you using an IMAP link to Gmail or POP?

thanks for the reply. 😁

thunderbird is a pop account. so far i have managed to export the contacts from thunderbird to gmail. seems to be mostly ok. none of the email folders within thunderbird have been migrated.

The old email folders within Thunderbird are stored on your hard drive. There should be no way that Telus could access them. All I did was rename the old main account to Old EMail or something like that, and just left them intact. The new Gmail was put into a new account in Thunderbird. If you want you can copy or cut old folders and paste them into your new Gmail account folders. I have not done that, and just left then as is.

thanks for the help😎
