how did they do that?

@Anon125  You will have new fiber line to house. A new box outside then fiber into house to an ONT ( needs power outlet ) Your inside phone wires can be put on the ont. Old phone wires are disconnected from incoming phone wire and hooked to ONT. Hopefully the site for ont has 120 there and also your inside tel wires. The tech will take care of that. Note phone will not work during power outage they may supply a battery backup if you ask (needs 120 also). Old tel wire to house no used anymore.

You will need Cat 5a or Cat 6 ethernet cable to distribute the network traffic throughout your house. Telephone wires won’t work. If a new install, the installation tech will try to locate the fibre connection near your current modem location.

If you are not connected to fibre, a splitter is installed in the small TELUS box on the outside of your house. This splitter directs the adsl signals to one Jack.
