Rural Smart Hub and cell booster??

HarperWyatt

We currently use the Telus Rural Smart Hub white wifi router. When we originally got this, it was incredibly fast and an upgrade from our previous Xplornet experience. Lately the download speeds have been less than great and we have been curious about purchasing a cell booster. Does anyone know if a cell booster could increase the LTE signal for the Rural Smart Hub therefore increasing the download speeds/consistency for our home? We have consulted sales staff at Telus locations but they do not seem to know much about the science behind it all.

Cell boost will definitely boost signal bars. As for speed, there’s 50/50 chance it will work. There are some factors that can affect speed since the smarthub is wireless device (LTE tower congestion, wifi interference, wifi congestion, wifi signal etc). Also not sure if it matters to you, cell boost adds extra hop (adds latency).

It is possible the reduction in speed is due to increasing subscriptions to the cell tower, and if so, a booster won’t help.
The Source lists cellular boosters on their website.
Also,if I recall Wilson is a well respected manufacturer.
