One of the automatic firmware updates bricked my ROUTER

I am trying to be as calm and civil as I can in this, but I am getting very very tired of wasting my time with technology that refuses to work.

I am trying to set up a port forward so I can remote desktop into my main beefy PC from when I am at college, and although I have had no problems with that in the past (Specifically I was successfully able to set up a port forward for something different 8-10 months ago). Since then one of the automatic firmware updates for my router decided to brick it.

I know my router/default gateway network panel access password, but it kept telling me incorrect password. I tried several different passwords even to know I literally wrote down my router password on my phone it still wouldn't let me in. I tried resetting the password using the default admin password listed on the router itself, and it told me incorrect password.

I factory reset it, and its still telling me incorrect password even when trying to reset the password using the default admin password that is literally on the side of the router right in front of me, which means one of the wonderfulty updates for the router that they put out in the last 8-10 months, probably not only screwed with/changed my OWN password that I had set, but actually changed the default admin password used to reset the password 😄

I still have internet because I never changed the wifi password itself, and I use ethernet for my actual PC, but the fact that I cannot log in to make changes to my network is really pissing me off considering just how stupidly expensive my internet is per month.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this or not, but if anyone has and knows a fix that wont take 2 weeks I am open ears.

Thanks for posting this. I too gave up typing the default listed password which I have not changed.
