Hi all,
We currently have a Nokia ONT (g-240g-a ONT) bridging our fibre connection for two separate dwelling units in our home (main floor and basement suite). Until a few days ago two ports on the ONT were active and delivering signal to each separate unit. We were having some connectivity issues so I disconnected both ethernet and the fibre cable, and reconnected everything. After that only one of the two ports seems to be active and our basement unit renters no longer have an internet connection. I can't see anything wrong with the physical connections but am wondering if the second port needs to be reactivated if disconnected? And help would be much appreciated!

It sounds like the second port on your Nokia ONT (G-240G-A) may have been deactivated during the disconnection process. When you reset or disconnect an ONT, it's possible that the configuration for multiple active ports gets reset, leaving only one port active. This could explain why your basement unit's connection stopped working.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check the ONT configuration: Sometimes, after resetting or reconnecting the ONT, it may revert to a default configuration where only one port is active. You might need to contact tech support to verify and reactivate the second port, as the ONT settings might not be user-accessible.
Power cycle the ONT: Try power cycling the ONT by unplugging it from power for a few minutes, then plugging it back in. This can sometimes refresh the connection and reactivate all ports.
Check your router setup: Ensure that your routers connected to the ONT in each dwelling unit are set up correctly and receive the signal. Test the routers to see if they are receiving any connection from the ONT at all.
If the second port still isn’t working, it’s best to reach out to tech support.
