Hi Community,
I recently switched from Shaw to Telus and ran into an issue with my Hikvision NVR setup. Here's my current setup:
Connection Layout:
- Telus Network Access Hub Modem
- Ethernet wall jack
- Network switch
- Ethernet wall jacks in other rooms:
- Port 1: Room 1 (connected and working)
- Port 2: Room 2 (connected and working)
- Port 3: Hikvision NVR (not connecting to the Internet)
The issue is that while the Ethernet wall jacks in rooms 1 and 2 provide internet access to devices, the Hikvision NVR connected to Port 3 cannot connect to the internet. With the exact same setup, the Shaw modem worked perfectly, but the Telus Network Access Hub Modem isn’t allowing the NVR to connect.
Observations:
- The NVR is fully functional on the Shaw modem, so it doesn’t seem to be a hardware issue.
- The issue might be related to Telus’ network handling, such as port blocking, IP settings, or a firewall configuration.
Questions:
- Has anyone experienced a similar issue when switching to Telus?
- Are there specific settings on the Telus Network Access Hub Modem I need to adjust (e.g., port forwarding, DMZ, or firewall)?
- Is there something about Telus' default IP range or routing that could be causing this problem?
I’d appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting steps you can share. I’ve already contacted Telus support, but I haven’t been able to resolve the issue yet.
Thanks in advance for your help!
This post has a similar issue, but I did not quite understand the solution in this post.
