Brother Printer not Connecting to WiFi

OhBrother

New Brother printer won’t connect to modem (no router). School starts tomorrow.

I heard it’s something to do with 2.4G vs 5G. Reset the modem and reset the printer multiple times.

Please help!

It sounds like your Brother printer might be having trouble connecting to the 5GHz network. Many printers only support the 2.4GHz band, which might be causing the issue. Here's how you can resolve this:

Separate SSIDs: If your modem is broadcasting the same network name (SSID) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try creating separate SSIDs for each band. This way, you can specifically connect your printer to the 2.4GHz network.

  • Log into your T3200M modem interface by typing 192.168.1.254 into your browser's address bar.
  • Use the credentials found on the modem's sticker to log in.
  • Go to the Wireless settings and assign a different name (SSID) to the 2.4GHz network.
  • Connect your Brother printer to the newly named 2.4GHz network.

Disable 5GHz temporarily: Another option is to temporarily disable the 5GHz band on your modem, connect your printer to the 2.4GHz band, and then re-enable the 5GHz band afterward.

Check Printer Settings: Make sure your printer is set to connect to the 2.4GHz band. Some printers allow you to manually select the network during setup.
