Connecting Printer to Wifi

Hi,

I'm helping my senior Father with connecting his printer to his telus modem.

The modem is a T3200M, and the printer is an HP Envy 4500

I have the correct wifi password and have verified by connecting with my phone.

The printer is able to connect to a hotspot I create with my phone, and print.

The printer sees the wifi network, but is unable to connect when the correct password is entered.

So again, wifi works, printer connects to wifi, but printer doesn't connect to Telus wifi.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

Thanks

  • I believe the printer requires a 2.4Ghz connection for wifi. It's possible the T3200M doesn't have smart steering enabled and has different SSIDs and passwords for the different bands. You may be attempting to connect to the 5Ghz band with the printer and that won't work.

Here is information on how to enable/check the setting:

Enable Smart Wi-Fi on Advanced Wi-Fi modem | TELUS Support

  • Hi,

Sorry for the slow reply, by the time I got back to try your suggestion he had replaced the printer, so I have no idea if your suggestion would have worked.

    Thanks.
