Activating additional ethernet ports already in house

With working from home, I'm finding my wifi isn't cutting it for everything I need to do. The wired connection works well but is only available in the living room unless I run an awkwardly long cord somewhere else in the house. There are other ethernet ports in the house (pre-wired) but none are active. Is it a big deal to get one of them to run on the same account?

If the ethernet plugs were pre-installed in the house by the builder or an electrician, you'll need to find out where they all converge. Anything pre-wired into your house has no connection to your account so it's all a matter of connecting things in your house. Where did Telus install your modem/gateway/T3200? Are you on fibre?
