Wifi Coverage Outside

Hi, I recently upgraded from Shaw to Telus PureFibre Internet 3G. While I don’t have significant issues, I find the coverage on my detached garage to be weak, as I’m always having connection issues with my Blink camera. For context, I was using an ASUS Wifi Mesh Router (RT-AX92U) when I was at Shaw, and I didn’t have this connection issues (my Shaw was only 300 MB).

My question is: will it be better to setup my Telus modem (Arcadyan NH20A) into bridge mode and utilize my ASUS wifi mesh instead? Will there be performance issues in terms of wifi speed if I do this setup? Or any compatibility issues I need to consider?

For additional context, the detached garage is roughly 30 feet from the house with a backyard in between. I understand distance from the modem could be a factor but I wasn’t experiencing this issue when I was using my ASUS wifi mesh on a much slower internet.

Thanks,

Michael

Hey Michael_P - We don't support bridge mode so we can't officially recommend that you do it but if your ASUS hardware worked for you, that should give you the coverage that you need + the speed of the 3Gb connection.

I'd say try it but do know that if you run into issues we can't help. You could remove the bridge mode though and test with our equipment. If that doesn't solve whatever issue you encounter then you call call Technical Support
